hello, I have a new 50cc Tao Tao. I had to replace the carb with a new one. I got the new carb into the scooter, but now it is very, very hard to start. Once I do get it started it runs beautifully. Once I turn the scooter off and it sits awhile it is very hard to start again. Just wondering do I need to tune it? Thinking it may need the air/mixture screw adjusted or maybe it needs a valve adjustment? The scooter only has about 35 miles on it. I also tested the battery and it is fine. Thanks in advance! Hello Again,
I am a bit confused. We tested the ignition switch and found it to be faulty. I am ready to order parts. Now do I order the actual ignition switch (the part where the key goes in) or do I order the Ignition Coil & CDI box, got to be the latter right?
Also, he tested it not using AC or DC. Is that ok? Thought you always tested using AC.
Sorry if these are silly questions, just want to double check with you guys.
Thanks

Hi,
The scooter just shuts off without noise or sputtering all without warning, which I found myself lucky to have not been in much traffic when it shut off. I also notice that it slows down greatly before it stops. Also the throttle is in the position of giving it gas if that makes since. The bike just cuts off while riding. The more I ride the more it loses power and stops more often. Hope this helps.

Hi, Please forgive me. I know I asked this question before but for the life of me I can not find the post. My question is, I have a 50cc Trans it with less than 50 miles on it. Since the beginning, this bike would start right up. After riding it for about 5 minutes or so it loses power and cuts off. The longer I ride the bike, the more it loses power and cuts off more frequently but does start right back up again. Would this be the electric choke? It is a brand new bike. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you guys have any suggestions on were to buy 50cc unsealed carbs would be greatly appreciated. I looked on Ebay but not sure if they are sealed or not. Thank so much. Attachments:

Hi John,
Sorry, I have not time to get back to it yet. From what I have been told I am thinking it is the regulator. Was told if it was the stator I would not get a spark. I hope to test it this weekend.

Hello,
I have a 50cc Tao Tao. It will start and run with a fully charged battery. When the battery gets low I have to use the kick starter until I charge the battery again. Is there an easy way to tell if the stator or the regulator is bad?
Also have a 50cc Peace Sports Trans It. This scooter will run great for a little while as I ride it. Seems like about 5 or 10 minutes later it will lose power and shut down. It will start back up right away though, then shut off within a few minutes. It gets worst the longer the trip. Any suggestions?
Thanks All :-)

Hello Guys, Thanks for the responses! I believe we checked for vac leaks but we double check. I will answer each question best I can, lol! 1. Does it start up and idle and run past 5 minutes? DOES START UP NICELY, WILL NOT RUN PAST 5 MINUTES.2. Does your carb have the Fuel Ratio Screw or is it PLUGGED? THE FUEL RATIO SCREW IS PLUGGED.3. When you say fuel is in the Air FILTER, after you clean it out at what point does it get a lot of gas again. GETS GAS RIGHT AWAY (I MEANT TO SAY FUEL FILTER)A. It could be the fuel inlet is NOT being shut off by the float. This can happen if the scoot was sitting for months with gas in it. IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A FEW MONTHSB. It could be that the Petcock is not shutting off and or allowing fuel to flow through the vacuum hose. 4. Have you cleaned out the carb. HAVE NOT CLEANED THE CARB YET, THOUGHT WE'D CHECK OUT EVERYTHING ELSE FIRST. Thanks so much for the help guys, looking forward to hearing from you. Hello All, I have a 50cc, 2012 Renegade. It has less than 30 miles on it. Since I've had this scooter it has given me problems. First off, it would start but would not stay running. The valves were adjusted to .003. It ran good for a little while, now I am having the same problem. Wondering if setting the valves at .002 would be better? Oh, I should mention, it instantly cuts off if we try to use the throttle. We also checked for spark and that was fine. Just wondering maybe it is running to lean? The spark plug was very dark when we checked it. Maybe it is a carb problem? Fuel is getting into the fuel filter. Any suggestions? Thanks PS I still have not had time to work on the other two scooters I had problems with, not ignoring you guys, just finally getting the time to work on these darn scoots. Thanks
