Well working the bugs out before I take final pictures and put all the plastic back on. Got the wiring done, hooked up the battery to test everything and kept blowing the fuse. turned out to be a bad relay that I used for the cooling fan.
Got all the air out of the cooling system but couldn't get the fan to come on. I tested the sensor and it won't kick in till coolant reaches 236 degrees. That seams way to hot to me so until I can get a lower temp fan switch I used anouther relay and turned my kill switch into a manual fan switch. The temp switch is still hooked up but I don't want to let it get that hot before the fan kicks in. Time will tell but I don't think the fan will be needed very often with a second radiator mounted up front in the airflow.

The 50cc's are still the biggest sellers around hear. You don't need a MC licence, tags, or insurance so they are really cheap transportation.

Working on wiring tonight. Got the new DC CDI wired it and she fired rite up. Felt really good to finally hear it run. While wiring in the radiator fan I got the idea that it would be nice to know when the fan was running. I'm sure at idle I would be able to hear it but at highway speed while wearing a helmet I probably couldn't. I modified the new spedo cluster using parts from the old one to add a green light to indicate the fan is running. This picture shows the light being bench tested. I increased the resolution of the pictures so they should be better. I tried the photobucket thing but it won't work with my Blackberry. Attachments:

Goods subject! I took my Tank on a 140 mile trip last summer and the only problems I had were lack of top spend and a very sore butt. I'm hopefully have the power problem fixed with the 250 upgrade but I need to do something about the seat. I want to take it to Sturgis this summer and that's a 700 mile round trip.

I'm glad the old stock is running out. I just got 2 new VIP's made by Peace Motor sports for resale. They are 2011 models and after assembly and PDI they seam to be better quality then the older ones I have worked on. I just wanted to have a couple on had for customers who bring in a total wreak of a scooter they have the option of getting a new one. I won't make much on them at $750.00 but it all helps.

I have seen many lock sets on Ebay very reasonable. You can open the seat by using a long screwdriver from underneath. Just look up in there and you will see where the cable from the lock operates the latch. Push on the cable itself not the sheath and it will pop right open. The gas cap is a little more difficult but nothing a large channel lock pliers won't take care of.

I have also seen the rivets get loose that attach the flywheel to the hub. It will make a sound just like a bad connecting rod.

It sounds like you already checked out the technical section on the difference between AC and DC CI's. It sounds to me like you have the 2 wire AC which is the more common one. The one was to check the new motor and know for shure is to take off the flywheel over the stator and see it has the power wire for the AC CDI. If its DC you will only have the bare copper coils. If its AC you will have anouther wire going around a few of the coils that powers the AC CDI.

I still have to get it running and repair a bunch of plastic but his bill will be MUCH less then if I would have had to rebuild the motor.
