The ride to work today was horrible, barely 35 and it died. Ride home same thing. I checked the wires on the trigger coil and made sure I put it back right. Same results. Then I removed it from the fly wheel and started the engine. It ran a little better but still severe misfiring in my power rpm. So I unplugged the red wire again and went on a test ride. It rode almost like it used to. I guess my variator setup wont allow it to reach that high rpm where it misfires badly. But then I plug it in and it misfires through every rpm, and stuggles to get higher. I have to pulse revv it to rarely get it high and steady. But then I unplug that wire and it works almost fine. On the kick stand it gets to a high rpm stays then misfires badly...... My qustion is what is this wire too? its red and the only other red and travels to the magneto area. The only red wire I see is on the trigger pickup coil. There is a black wire right next to the red. When I plug the red up and unplug that the engine dies immediately. I know I need a new coil, but i'm curious as to what that wire is for and how is it affecting the spark.

I must be confused on the wiring. I wonder what that wire goes too that drastically changes the way the engine fires. But the engine is misfiring progressively worse. I tried to clean the trigger coil by the stator and it made it worse. Once I get in high rpms it misfires to the point where it acts as if i'm hitting the kill switch for 3 secs. I know its something gone bad because I didnt change anything before it started.

I don't know then. I followed the wires from the stator. One is a bundle of wires in a plug that powers all lights. The other two are a black and red wire. I unplugged the red wire. instantly the bike stopped misfiring and revved up. then when it got to a curtain rpm is misfires horribly. Then I plug the red cables back together and instantly it stops misfiring as much as without it plugged in.

I was checking wires to the coil for damege and unpluged the positive one and the bike still ran, and better untill it got to a high rpm then it severely misfired down to about idle then tried again.
I dont plan on using it without it, but i'm curious of how the stuff works.

There should be wires comming from your stator to the right side of the bike at the end are two wires ,-) for your ignition trigger coil and a white socket type plug with a couple wires connected to it. The white one is your lights. When unplugged they all go out.

Because its cheap? I thought there would be a different reason because you already stated that copper is pricey

I'm confused. Why do they use thin wire?

Does anyone know where I can find a GOOD quality gy6 139qmb 50cc wiring harness. I mean like really good and sturdy wires. The one I have is super cheap and all the wires are paper thin.

My tail light went out one day at my friends house. Went to replace and now the fuse blows every time I try to start it. I think? I only tried one fuse. I was not staying there so I just connected the two fuse connectors and left. Been riding like that ever since with no problems. What problem could occur by doing this?

Also, it starts like it should now, but with a little gas.
Gy6 50mm bbk/ free flow air/ stock exhaust/
When ran on stand at WOT I get nice loud revs, but the transition to that is rough unless done slowly. At WOT it will sound like im flicking the kill switch every 5 or so secs. Each time last for 1 sec or two.
The carb is relatively new, and its getting gas. Idles fine after gasing it a little on cold start.

So of course once I get the bike running decent I get another problem, but this one sounds fatal.
Its been running fine, then I noticed it going slower. I ran out of money one day and used regular. Ive always used premium. Anyway It started misfiring after a tank and a half. Like It was super hard to start and when it did I had to keep it gased for a few secs in order for it not to cut off at idle.
I played with the spark plug wire and got it to work a little better, or at least I thought I did. I bought a new cable with cdi. I just used the cable. Got a new spark plug. When riding at WOT somtimes it randomly bogs down, like it sounds as if I just hit the kill switch, then I hold it there and it randomly picks back up after sounding like it was killed at 1/4th throttle. The new cable made barely any difference.
It sounds like the time when one of the cables was loose on the cdi. I dont think its a compression problem so I havn't messed with the valves. Sounds as if it has insufficient spark.
