It's actually 39 MPH, GPS confirmed. 42 MPH when I'm off my speedometer.

I'm probably due for an oil change anyhow, because I've run my engine extremely hard for like 600 miles.

We got a Hyosung SF50 with low compression. It's a two stroke. Are there any simple things (like valves) that would cause low compression on these engines (120PSI)? I don't know the engine code/can't find it.

Obviously a softer spring will allow a quicker lifting of the diaphram and probably result in a faster rpm increase ? I would think we would be looking for a stiffer spring so that the RPM's drop quicker?

I'm thinking of putting 2 OZ of Motorkote in my oil in my 50cc. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff? Is it going to foul up my engine or something?

but now I not only get to 70 KPH (the max on my speedo), but I push the needle off the max reading! I wonder it I'm redlining...I had a Lance Charming 50cc three years ago and it would rip up to 40 mph on its speedometer easily. It sounded like it was in pain at that speed. I had pulled the restrictor plate out of the airbox. If it wasn't at redline at that speed it should have been. I would ride it no higher than 35 indicated just because of the sound. After I go about a half an inch off my max reading (past the 70 KPH mark), I can feel my front tire do a weird vibration, so I never usually push it further than that. I have no issues keeping up with traffic, though. I have an odd sound that comes from mine around 55-60 KPH on the speedometer, it sounds like a shallow slicing sound, and then it goes away after I get past 60.

John sent me an orange small CDI, and ever since that day my bike has acted like a speed bike..or something. To this day I have no idea why that small orange CDI made such a huge difference for me, but trust me, it made a difference for me.

"Hey I never said a word about Vespas being trouble free. I have also found their dealers are butt holes also." Truer words were never spoken,,,,with little over 1200 miles my vespa is down,,,bad carb,,,the dreaded WALBRO,,,POS,,,,i've been thru the thing 6 times now,,cleaner than anything,,,it is as new,,,AND can't get a replacement ...vespa doesn't or anyone else for that matter sell it,,it has been discontinued,,so the vaunted vespa brand has a few chinks in it's armor,,,BUT i knew this going in,,,even tho it had very few miles it still is a 12-13 year old bike, and from what i read even before i bought it the carb is the weak link,,,i can get a replacement carb for a chinese scoot all day long,,ebay has dozens of them new in the box,,,i called the dealer,,the joke of the century,,,they know less than my cat,,,nothing but parts changers,,,not a mechanic in the bunch of them with their little smocks,,,looking like betty crocker,,,geez,,,i made a surface carb out of tin foil and got it running,,,told them about the surface carb they looked at me like i had six heads,,,,idiots,,,so a call to a few race teams,,,(read real mechanics),,so it boils down to i either pay them with my right leg or my left nut,,, SPhhhhhhh Pay with your left nut, at least you'll still have a functioning right one, am I right? No, but seriously, Vespa is a good brand and all, but I have this odd feeling that we won't be getting our '73 Vespa running anytime soon (41 YEARS!), but who knows. It sputters, so that's better than when we got it..

I have to say that I don't believe that Chinese scooters are junk by any means. Why are they cheap? Well they're not made out of hard metal like expensive bikes! There's a reason that a scooter made out of ABS plastic is a lot cheaper than say a Kawasaki Ninja, but in all honesty I think it's not the plastics that make the scooters. Sure, plastics make them look good, but they're just for looks. What it really comes down to is how much you know about an engine and electrics. If you have just basic knowledge of motors and what the various electrical parts do (regulator, CDI, etc), you can get along just as well if not better than a brand new "Honda".
I can tell you right now that my 2003 (Hear me? TWO THOUSAND AND THREE) scooter that I bought for $200, and has at the most $100 in parts in it has more than paid for itself, if not more. And if anything is broken on it, it's my own fault (I was the first one to lay it down, damn potholes). And even after it was laid down, it still looks great, scratches or not (although I was concerned that I may have damaged the engine in the fall, since as soon as I went down the engine cut out (maybe there is a shutoff switch in there I'm not aware of that will shut off the bike when it's laid down?), but it got right back up and was kicking within seconds of me putting it down.
Also another reason Honda's are expensive are because they do the most ridiculous things. Like, why is a 50cc Honda Ruckus WATER COOLED?! EXPLAIN THAT TO ME HONDA.

When I got my scooter, I thought there was no way it was going to make it to 2000 miles. But since I got it two years ago at 1300 miles, I've racked up quite a few miles, with very very little work. I'm up to 2360 miles, and I've had to do very little maintenance. I mean, when I got it out of storage this year, it kicked over on the second kick.
Not to mention, since I got it, I've made a few performance enhancements. I couldn't get above 40 KPH when I first got it, but now I not only get to 70 KPH (the max on my speedo), but I push the needle off the max reading! I wonder it I'm redlining...

Yes, the Ruckus runs. We had it idling and the previous owner would ride it all the time. And yes the aluminum threads stripped right out and actually got stuck in the drain plug hole.

True. Although I'm horrible at splicing wires...is there a special technique to putting wires on?

Does anybody know where I might be able to get a headlight harness that looks like this? It's a single three wire harness that ends in two sections. It's this
