Hello. My dad got a 150cc scooter with a stripped spark plug hole, so we're replacing the head. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong cylinder head, and the valve cover won't go back on, as it has egr. Can we just buy a new valve cover, or do we have to actually get an EGR head?

Can't I just replace the head, also? Might be the best method, as my dad is not into that whole tapping thing. In fact, it had pretty low compression, and I wanted to do a valve adjustment, but he wouldn't let me because he wants to tear the head off!!

So my dad finally got a scooter. A 150cc! Looks great, only has 400 miles on it. But that's about all that's good so far. Went to go check for spark today, and sure enough, it has spark. So we're putting the spark plug back in.....................and in........and in..........and hey look, it never stops turning. Explains why the spark plug was fingertight when we took it out So...the spark plug threads are SHOT. What do we do?

I might as well throw my two cents in here (John will know what I'm about to tell you!).
It's very unlikely, but on my scooter, the battery wasn't charging all all despite the R/R being good and the stator being good. If you've ever done any wiring on your bike before this started to happen, see if you can undo it. If the bike came like this, start checking for mismatched wire connections (colors) under your dash and front of your scooter. The reason I say this is because on my scooter, I had done some mismatched wiring on it to make the dashboard and lights turn on when the ignition was turned on, but it came with one side effect: a short to ground. This drained all of my battery voltage away and fried quite a few R/R's (Just ask John. He heard all about it when all of a sudden I had NEGATIVE voltage going to my battery (polarity swap)!

you can attach a portable snow plow to that mustache mount... to make that scooter more useful..lol I'd like to see that 50cc motor push any decent amount of snow out of the way!

hey what is that bracket attached in front of your scooter??? :owhat's that for?? looks like a mustache tho...lol ;D It looks like a front license plate mount or something and yeah it looks like a mustache lol. Yes, I do believe that it is a license plate mount. I don't take it off because it leaves 3 holes in the front! Come to look at it through, it does look like a mustache!

What your probably hearing is the gears turning, don't forget there are about 4 gears that have to mesh to turn the wheel. Alleyoop You're probably right. It doesn't sound detrimental. So I think that's all it is. Okay, so the resistance is normal. What is the best things to do to make sure the back tire moves as smoothly as possible?

Yes, the gearbox oil was changed about 400 miles ago.

Correct me if I am wrong here, but the back tire should have the same resistance (in terms of spinning) as the front tire, right? My front tire on my scooter spins quite freely and is easy to turn, but my back tire (on the center stand of course) has quite a lot of resistance to it. Spinning it as hard as I can takes quite some effort and the wheel stops spinning with in mere moments of me spinning it. It also has a weird grinding sound (only slight). Adjusting the brakes did nothing, even with the brakes set to minimum (no contact), I still here the slight grinding noise. I can get up to 40mph on this thing so I'm not complaining, but what if this tire is holding me back?

I rode in the rain...52 degrees out. Came back and my hands swelled up from being in the cold for so long o.o Now that's a real trooper! Well, I kind of had to get out of the house. My brother released Sulpher Dioxide gas into the house while he was taking apart lithium ion batteries. I didn't want to die!

So I've been noticing that mid-riding, my gas gauge will just..turn off. Stop showing anything. Just show zero. And then sometimes (not likely) it will come back up to displaying a proper amount if I hit a bump or something (maybe it's related.). But most of the time the ignition needs to be turned off and then back on again for it to start working. Until today. Today it just stopped working mid-ride and won't work at all now. What should I check to make it work again?

Well, I'm from White Lake. But I am a Michigan rider! Seems like scooters are getting pretty popular lately!
