There is a well written article in the tech section all about the manual choke with sources, notes, alternatives, etc. The enricher block method is there also. Take a gander through there, lots of great info that makes this board 'special'.
I considered the manual choke but decided to see if I could get away with just blocking mine off. I know, I know, I am a thrifty/cheap Scotsman. I had a flooded scooter to deal with at the time and only a few days of good weather to ride. I had plenty of gasket material and I did not want to wait for parts to arrive.

I lost the baffle out of my muffler so it is real loud now. It wasn't bad at first. I have a new muffler just like the old one coming from tvnacman. testedscooterparts.com/It is supposedly tunable also. It will not be a stealth scooter but hopefully it is quiet enough for me. I need all the performance I can get with a heavy 50cc trike. I doubt my scoot muffler was ever as quiet as the one that came with your scoot but check with tvnacman. I have the reverse trike ruckus clone+ from scooter depot.

I have done what KZ says several times with no problems. I usually use compressed air with a thin tube nozzle to blow out chips if I can. A little WD-40 will help loosen chips that are stuck in grease. Rinse and clean several times while moving the piston.
Be very careful to align the drill and tap.

8-10" over ice would be a lot here too. We get that every other year or so. Flurries here are usually under 1". One to two inches of ice is not unusual either. The 'ice belt' KC used to be in has moved South and East.
I keep a backup generator handy also. Since my service transformer is on a main distribution line I am usually not out of power long. If a tree brings down my overhead service I may be out for a while. I have provided power to a couple neighbors when their service was out to keep the furnace and refrigerator working.
I am not riding anywhere either. It is 10°F out there!!!!

My enricher made starting impossible if it did not start on the first crank. With no way to turn the enricher off I had to let the scoot sit for hours before attempting to start it again. I was able to block the enricher with a gasket. I didn't feel prewarming the enricher for several minutes before starting my scoot was practical for me. Blocking seems to be OK for me so I won't bother running a manual choke unless I feel a need to in the future. I am already confused enough with all these buttons, levers, and switches. But then I am very easily confused nowadays, it must be dementia or Alzheimer's.

I just plugged mine off with a gasket a few days ago. I will unplug it when I get access to the connector. That 5W power savings will let me go 0.005MPH faster. Even dead cold she starts fine. It might be different if I kept it outside in 20°F weather like it was today. If I need choke to get it started I can always reach down and plug off a few holes on the airbox snout with my fingers. ;D

cold carb??

Carbs will freeze up under the right conditions. Usually prolonged periods of constant throttle will freeze up the worst. They have charts for aircraft to help identify dangerous conditions. When a scoot or any ground transport freezes up it is usually not a big problem but if an aircraft loses power.....

I thought they were all interesting. I still look at how easy it would be to put a cage on mine.
I was also looking at a utility worker's lime green reflective jacket the other day for visibility. I should have purchased one but I could not figure out their sizes.

I had to adjust the idle a couple times over the first 200km because it kept getting faster. I think the fast idle one day did some damage to my clutch or belt. The scoot was jerking & shuddering a little when stopped and when I took off. It got better when I turned the idle down but it still does it under some loads. I am breaking mine in much the same as I will be riding it. As a beginner, I wasn't riding real fast at first anyway or for any distance. I did open it up on hills and just for fun sometimes. I have a tach which I am not sure works because it only shows a little over 6000rpm when I am running wide open. These little engines should break in fairly rapidly just due to the speeds they operate at. It will be 'interesting' to see what happens if they continue to gain power.

Crazy! I resemble that remark. ;D
Interesting people are all insane.
Sean, have you made any progress on the oil control?
There are some great tech articles in the 'Library' here.

But the traditional garb of my ancestors keeps the vitals so nice and cool in the summer time. ;D
-And so frosty in winter...
Maybe I should try it Wednesday, it is supposed to be 35°F out.
Sorry, I will not be posting pictures or video due to the Mature subject matter.

I have not rec'd an info on that plug but I did find a way to get some noise away from my ear. It is fun to try to 'fix' things.
First I bored out the threads from a 45° galvanized 1/2" NPT elbow and reduced the OD on one end to wedge into the ~28mm ID exhaust pipe. It was too much restriction and I lost about 1/4 of my throttle. The hole was larger than what is shown on that power plug but I think the 45 angle was an even bigger restriction. Now I have a useless bling type 2-1/2" chrome exhaust turndown on the end of the muffler. It looks real stupid but it did get the noise away from my ear and did not cut power. It is definitely not a stealth scooter though. For grins I should just hang the big oval Magnaflow 2.5" muffler off my truck on the end of the scooter muffler and see what it does. -LOL

I know better than to leave anything on the beach. LOL It got dropped and then run over. Not a good combo. I'm supposed to get my new one Monday, but it might be Tuesday. My battery is in good shape. As soon as the weather gets better, I'll meter it under some RPMs. Terrible weather in Hawaii, let me cry some crocodile tears for ya! LOL!!! The high here Wednesday is supposed to be 35°F with the lows hovering in the lower teens for the next week. We don't even have pretty mountains to ski on either or frozen lakes to go ice fishing on. When you throw your phone at the girlfriend she just might back over it.... ;D My daughter got herself wet also on the beach. She was sun-bathing and snoozing. When that wave hit she woke up but it was too late for her phone. There seems to be something about water in general and sea water in particular that phones don't like. I just don't understand it either. She has been to the Galapagos islands, other exotic places, and all up the seaboard on both coasts but forgot about tides.... It must be something about exposure to S. California that just kills brain cells.
