So, there are people spending $3300 for a Vespa 50cc, $3000 OTD for a Honda Ruckus and over $2000 for a Metropolitan. 520 miles, loaded, on a $800 scooter. www.gsmotorworks.com/detail.cfm?id=842Why are people spending all that money? Real dealers with parts support,a real warranty. I have owned and still have a Chinese scooter and the selling point is they are cheap and you can buy a used one not running for real cheap. But no way on the same level of the scoots you mention. I was at a big E Bay scoot seller and the parts department was a few scoots setting in the corner and the "mechanic" couldn't keep his own 250cc scooter running. They are no longer in the business of selling scooters they sell Saunas now and have nothing to do with scooters. 30 day warranty has now expired.

And this is a way better place than SD ever was. That is not true. Back in the early days of Chinese scoots 2005 or so there was not many boards a guy with a Chinese scoot go and not getting bashed into insanity, Scoot Dawg was verrrry helpful and thee best scoot board of the time. there was no info on them and parts were very difficult to find parts for. This board has it' fair share of former Scoot dawgs

A local importer of Chinese scooters {Rakatak} received some fiberglass boats. When they arrived he couldn't get Coast Guard approval on them. They were constructed out of single wall fiberglass. They needed to be double wall foam filled. He ended up trying to sell them as pond boats not suitable for open water. I still think the boat was better constructed than the 250cc scooter I bought from them. That was a real joke. They no longer sell boats or scooters.

I have A Riva 180 in my garage that I am SURE we could make a deal on. It is posted in the for sale forum. I hate to sell it but the Stella is my favorite and one needs to go.

I have a Yamaha Riva 180cc that would fit your requirements. The extra 30cc's make difference. If you were local I would let you try it out.

A salvage scooter will never have the value of a non salvage scoot. It doesn't take much to total out a scoot. If you buy one with light damage and verify it with pics. before and after and if you bought it right and kept cost down you should be o.k. If you have a $1000 scooter and the wind blows it over and scratches or breaks a few panels it will porbably be totaled. I bought a Yamaha R1 that the owners mother backed up and knocked it over it got totaled by the insurance company . I bought it fixed it myself and made a couple thousand dollars off it.
