The older vespa's are all kickstart only. It was the norm till the Vespa PX series when Piaggio added the electric starter mechanism . The outer gear is on the outter edge of the flywheel . my 2 cents worth . will

My 04 Stella has a "wet clutch". Most of the 2 cycle Vespa's and Stella 2T's have 3 cork plates with 2 steel plates sandwiched between them inside the clutch basket . The oil lubracates them . I was told specifically to use 30wt non detergent for lubrication by a longtime Vespa and Stella owner . will c.

It is always best to get a matched crankcase set when building an engine from the ground up like you just did. That is true not only for a GY6 but also a Vespa aswell (like for my P200E project ) . Each crankcase has its own little things particular to the set. If you split them up and buy seperate halfs , your asking for trouble !! They may not match up like a complete set would have. will c.

Using 12 or 13gr rollers or sliders will help better with top end speed. Do you still have the stock air filter ? removing it and putting in a performance airfilter will help your engine breath better. You would need to adjust your carbs jetting if you do that upgrade. Performance exhaust pipe will also help !If you haven't replaced the stock CDI do so if you can . Just my 2 cents worth ! will c.

The metal shards in the oil troubles me . There could be much more hidden damage inside the engine. Those shards can damage bearings and the crankshaft and the other parts within the crankcase . You may need to do a full engine disasembly to see if any of the other engine parts have been affected by the metal in the oil. will c.

Here is one more picture that shows the difference of cylinder bolts holes on the Vespa P200 crankcase when compared to a Vespa VLB1M ( Sprint 150)crankcase . The bolt holes are digonal instead of horizontal like on the VLB1M crankcase (left picture) .

One more quick note : the 2 cycle Vespa's and Stella 2T's (made by LML in India) don't have a twist and go transmission like the Chinese scooters have . The original Vespa scooters in the late 50's initially had a 3 speed manual transmission. Piaggio later went to a 4 speed manual transmission that was carried into the PX and later on the LML made Stella 2t's.There are no belts or weights in the transmssion like the chinese scoots have . Everything is gear ratios . It took me close to 2 months just to get used to the shifting patern that my Stella 2T has . What was my rear brake lever on my old Roketa is now the clutch and the shifting is done with the left wrist. The rear brake is now on the right floorboard. One last note : (My opinion )The Vespa and LML parts quality are far more superior than what the chinese scoots have. They last much longer !! will c.

Also check the tip of your sparkplug ! If it is cream ( or white) colored at the tip your too lean and need to adjust it before you put a hole in your piston !! .A dark black plug means your running too rich .Ideal color is a medium tan to dark brown color . Just my 2 cents worth !
