That is a fascinating engine. Only thought that concerns me is how hard it might be to keep cool. Anyhow, something to keep an eye on. Would be interesting to see it in a small form factor as a 5 cylinder scooter engine, maybe in the equivalent 450 or 650 class.

A lot of it is perception. I wave when possible whether I'm on my Roketa 250 or my Yamaha FJ1200, and whether the other rider is on a scooter or a hog. Doesn't cost me anything. It's kind of weird, but in some of the cruiser forums, they complain that the worst people for not returning a wave is the sport bikers. The fewest wave backs for me seem to come from scooter riders. I think that a lot of the 50cc riders are often a bit timid. Also, a lot of what gets the wave may be the rider, not the type of bike. I nearly always get the wave from motorcycles while on the 250. I think that is mostly because they see the full face helmet, and mesh slide jacket, long pants and boots. Less likely to be "accepted" if I were helmetless, in short sleeve shirt with shorts and flip flops. Can't believe I rode like that on the freeway in the 80's.

Great post!! I wasn't around in the early days, and don't know what went on, but always great to see someone doing their best for the team. Ego can get in the way of a lot of things and can be a real problem to get over. Thanks to all you and the past, present, and future staff do here. It means a lot...

The benefit of a Voyager conversion is that it is cheaper than a full conversion, and can be attached or removed in just a few minutes, so you can do the long trip as a trike and make your passenger more comfy, then detach at your destination to go canyon carving or regular road riding.. I've been looking at them for a while now for my FJ1200..

Good to hear that you are getting miles and smiles on the trike, and yeah, someone go round Luke's place and see if you can find the Pod. Looks kind of like a big green seed thing.. check under the trailer..

my goodness!...what's the use of a windshield if you are wearing a helmet?? tell me!!!!
Keeps the rain off, and makes for a warmer ride in the winter... I actually have two windshields for my 250. One for summer, and one taller for winter or rainy weather.

Well, Telcotech, While it was undoubtably a pain to do a through redo, at least now you know that that part of it is done right.. Hope you get many happy miles from it..

I really prefer RC cola, but I can't always get that, so usually I buy Coca Cola. In most bars all they have is Pepsi, so sometimes I drink that. But I rarely drink the Kool Aid...

I would guess that it's just like the gates belts, manufactured in several different countries, out of different materials, and you can't tell by the price. And of course, imitators that just throw their names on really cheap belts. I think you have to go by supplier reviews and trial and error.. just my 2 cents worth, though..

tail light

Well, two things..First, is it the tail light, or the brake light? I don't know the wiring on this particular scooter, but I would pull the brake lever back and see if it comes on. If it is the brake light, you may have a stuck switch. Second, it is always better to put it right rather than just wire around the problem. That may mean that you have to buy a new lock/key set, but it also makes sure that you don't forget to turn the tail light on.. something that you might not notice until too late..

Most of the owners/user manuals are pretty generic and not brand specific. Once you identify the type of engine in your scooter as either a horizontal or vertical type, it will be easier to troubleshoot any problems you may have. PM sent..
