Great job. It's always good to hear a success story.

How does it spin with the cam chain off the camshaft? It sounds like something is amiss in the chain. I assume it's the 125cc GY6 engine. It doesn't make sense since the cam holder bolts into the head. See if the cam rotates freely before the valves are engaged.

Since it's fuel injected there's probably a faulty sensor involved. Not to be disloyal but go to www.modernvespa.com and ask. Your scooter has a Vespa engine and electronics. Someone there may have had a similar problem.

You could try entering the VIN in a search engine. Also see if there's a TGB group forum. Also see if there is a TGB dealer or parts distributor. As a last thought you could get in touch with Matt Many at www.partsforscooters.comHe is a whiz in the scooter business if anyone can advise you it would be him.

How is the scooter working out? I'm curious as to how the bigger GY6 engine performs.

Is power getting to the enricheners? It sounds like it's not rich enough when cold. Have you tried spraying starter fluid in the carb? If it keeps running you either have a clog in the tank or the float bowl. Since it sat so long there might have been gunk in the tank that got to the carburetor.

First check your fuse or fuses. If that doesn't help take a voltmeter to the sockets and see if you have power. If not then back track the wiring and see if a connection is open.

There are tech manuals on this site. View them and see if they help.

Go online and find a similar model being sold by the seller. Ask if they have parts for it. Powersportsmax.com for instance.

If it's running try putting a couple of ounces of Seafoam, a fuel additive, in the tank and go for a ride. More than likely you have deposits in the system and Seafoam will clear it out.

Look for a vacuum leak. It sounds like you have an air leak.

Have you had the valve clearances checked lately? I'm not up on the operation of a Metropolitan but if it has a fuel pump it's probably vacuum powered. Also if the valves are hanging open the engine's compression is low and there is no vacuum to power the pump or the engine.

Have you checked the valve clearances lately? It almost sounds like a compression loss. If not that, try starter fluid. If it fires up you have a carburetor issue.

Check that the arms on the clutch are moving through their throw range and not sticking. It sounds like all the pads are not making contact with the bell. Also is the rear brake sticking? You might have a drag on the drive.
