tvnacman has it right. A few weeks ago I replaced my 150's Powerlink Premium Belt. It didn't break, but needed to be changed after 6,832 miles of service. I had noticed a slight increase in rpm's, at my preferred cruise speed, and a slight decrease in mpg for two consecutive fill ups. The new belt fixed those two things, and I also noticed it takes less rpm to get things rolling from a dead stop.
Needless to say.....my replacement belt is another Gates Powerlink Premium. Now I'm good to go for another 6,000 miles.

I agree......Slipstreamer makes a good one, but not really inexpensive. I've had one of theirs on my scoot for over 3 years......and wouldn't ride without it. I got the tall one, and soon realized it was in need of modification. With a roll of masking tape, and a jig saw, I shortened it by about 5", to better suit me. Not only do they make it more comfortable to ride in cool, or cold weather, they also make warm weather riding more enjoyable, and safer. The photo is just to show you how this type of shield mounts to a scooter without exposed handlebars.

I know this is not a high mileage, 150cc scooter (yet), but it amazes me how well it runs, and that so far, it has been free of any breakdowns. After all, aren't all Chinese scoots supposed to be a big POS?

Before buying too many parts, you might take a good look at your plug boot. Is it fitting on the plug nice and tight? Is it snug where it screws into the plug wire? The plug wire/boot connection is a common cause of no spark condition.

Horace.......jct842.....I agree with both of you. Would like to add that a common cause of breakdowns, is the emissions systems being left in place. The 6+ feet of hose, vac lines, canisters, and such, are all potential problems.
7,912 miles on my Chinese scoot....not one breakdown....always starts on first or second revolution....has never stalled at a stop.....climbs hills like a mountain goat......carb hasn't been adjusted or cleaned in more than 3 years.....all engine electrics are factorty original (except the plug boot).......and my last tank of gas delivered 94.35 mpg. I attribute the fuel milage bump up, to the new drive belt I installed a week ago......old one ran 6800 miles, and was getting quite narrow, riding lower in the variator, causing increased rpm's.
Oh, by the way guitarman.....both the old, and new Gates Powerlink Premium Belts, were made in China.

I'm wondering if maybe the wrong button was clicked, on the authorize payment page. I did this myself a couple of weeks ago, but caught my mistake. The large colored button that read OK, right under the amount to be authorized, was not the samething as the less prominent, uncolored, located farther down, pay now button. The larger more prominent button had smomething to do with Papal Credit.
I know I made this mistake, and I've had a paypal account for more than 13 years, maybe more.......and have used it hundreds, and hundreds of times.

Those are two totally different plugs....all the letters mean something. They are both resistor plugs, and have the same heat range, but that's all. Maybe this will help: NGK technical information

They don't have the same number because they are made by different companys, but are interchangable....as are these other brands: Spark plug cross reference

Well trashtruck1217, I understood what you were saying, and believe most others did also. I had an early seventies, Toyota Pickup that ended up junked because the frame rusted through, and in more than one place. Haven't bought a Toyota since then, and never will. Everything from Japan was known to be of very low quality in the fifties, and even beyond.
As far as Chinese goods getting over this same reputation, I think they are doing it now (at least in some areas)..... iphones, for example, and the Gates drive belt on my scoot, made in China, and has more than 6,000 miles on it.
Thing is, you can not expect a $600, or $700 scooter, to be equal in quality to a $3000 one. That being said, I am totally happy with my Chinese ride, it is not a Honda, Yamaha, or Vespa......but it does have 7,170 miles run without a breakdown, and literally runs better now, than ever.

Either your fuel tank needs to be vented, or your valves need adjusting, or both. Maybe you should find and perform a complete PDI on this scoot, if you don't, thiese kind of things are going to keep popping up every week.

As a new rider, the most important thing I learned quickly was, You have to drive defensively
As an experienced rider, the most important thing I eventually learned was, Owning only one bike is never enough

tvnacman is correct, It is the shock mounting point, for one of the two, on the rear of my 157QMJ long case scooter.
